Celebrating college and career goals at the Elsmere Senior Assembly

They left as fifth graders in 2007 and returned to Elsmere on Friday, May 30, greeted by cheers, as the entire Elsmere student body welcomed back 36 graduating seniors who once attended the elementary school. READ MORE AND VIEW PHOTOS

Fifth Grade Survivor Day 2014

On Friday, May 30, more than 300 Bethlehem fifth graders from the district's five elementary schools took part in the annual Survivor Day games at Elm Avenue Park. Designed to be an "ice breaker" for the soon-to-be middle schoolers, the contest of both athleticism and academics tested students on everything from geometry and geography to a challenging obstacle course. May has been busy at Elsmere with local business visits, Animal Day and fifth & second grade buddy time! Many thanks to our Delaware Ave neighboring business who visited students to share their knowledge: Hannaford, My Place, Murray’s Pizza, Delmar Chiropractic, DelLanes, I Love Books, My Place and Bethlehem Tae Kwan Do. “Animal Day” had us sharing the fun of the last weeks of school with our stuffed animal friends. Lastly, our fifth grade "editors" guided their second grade buddies in making revisions to their persuasive essays. VIEW PHOTOS

Olympic luger's journey offers thrill ride for students

Where does the Olympic sport of luge intersect with miniature golf? The answer is in the Adirondack village of Lake Placid. At least that's where it did for Elsmere Elementary School kindergarten teacher Nancy Davis, her husband, and son Robert, who turned a chance meeting with an aspiring Olympian into a weekly classroom project -- and lifelong memory -- for dozens of students at the Bethlehem school.
