Sneaker Recycling Program
An intracity Troy group,
Hope 7, is collecting your used sneakers. Hope 7 provides daycare for
low-income families, activities for kids and maintains a food pantry for the
community. Their goal is to collect 1,000 pairs of sneakers by June to send to
third world countries that have none. Don't worry about the shape of your shoes
because any that can't be sent to wear, will be recycled into building materials
for playground floors!

Dressing for the cold weather
Now that the cold weather is upon us, it is important that our students be dressed appropriately.
Children go outside for recess daily which requires them to have a warm jacket, hat and gloves. Boots and snow pants are needed if there is snow on the ground. In addition, if your child walks to school, please make sure he/she is dressed warmly. Except for extremely cold (and rainy) mornings, students are not permitted in the building until the bell rings at 9:10 a.m. Please label all outdoor clothing with your child's name.
School Store
The Elsmere School Store will be open during lunch/recess
starting
Jan. 11, 2012. The PTA and fifth graders will be operating it along with parent
volunteers.
Since late December, 5th graders have been working hard to put the school store back in business. Their activities have included conducting inventory, establishing prices, and advising on orders. The 5th graders expect the school store to be open on Wednesdays during lunch periods through the end of the school year. Parents interested in volunteering should contact Jennifer Haight.
