Welcome Message From The Principal
Welcome to Glenmont School!
Glenmont Elementary School, located in a suburb just outside of Albany, NY, is one of five Bethlehem Central elementary schools. Thanks to the dedicated and professional faculty and staff, our 360 students in grades K-5 learn and grow in a challenging yet supportive environment. Our families are an integral part of our learning community, providing support through our active PTA.
For the past few years, we have had a leadership theme in place in our school. To succeed in this global 21st century, our children need different skills than we adults were taught when we were in school, such as the ability to collaborate, communicate, problem solve, be self-directed, be creative, be computer literate and be adaptable. In an effort to prepare our children, we focus on developing our children’s leadership skills. We encourage our children to be proactive and take responsibility. We help them set goals and plan ahead. We encourage them to contribute positively to our school community and look for ways to be a good citizen, even when no one is looking. We offer opportunities for them to practice collaborative problem solving and listening skills. You can see examples of our leadership theme in action throughout our school, whether in math class, choir, or recess.
Ever since the doors of our school first opened on April 29, 1957, Glenmont School has served as a high achieving, nurturing learning community for our students, staff, and families. We are very proud of our school and hope you will stop by to see what makes our school such a special place.
