Dear Families,

Tuesday is the district’s budget vote! Be sure to get to the high school between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. to make your voice heard. On the district’s website you can read all about the proposed budget and also the three candidates running for the two School Board seats. While our Glenmont students may be too young to vote in these elections, they will be able to cast their vote for a new snack to be served in the cafeteria as a part of the “Kids Vote Too” program, so be sure to bring them along when you cast your ballot.

Congratulations to our fabulous fourth and fifth graders for making such beautiful music together this past Wednesday evening! Special thanks to Mrs. Seebode, Ms. Vitale, and Mr. O’Connell for guiding our children to develop a love of music.

Our 5th graders visited the middle school today and they have their Pit Party celebration this evening. It’s hard to believe they will be leaving us soon, but they are ready to fly.

Thanks to your efforts, Glenmont School was one of the top schools in earning points with the Price Chopper Tools for School program, and so we won a $250 Price Chopper gift card as well as a basket of school supplies. The PTA will be using the gift card to help with field day purchases, and our faculty will be using the basket of school supplies. We were able to redeem our points for new recess games and materials such as balls, frisbees, jump ropes, chalk and more. In addition, we were able to order some headphones and also some music materials. Thank you to all of you who have been earning points for us all year!

Next week everyone is invited to our Art Show on Thursday, May 23 from 4:30-7 p.m. Come to see a piece of art by every student in the school, and enjoy some Panera snacks our PTA has arranged for us to enjoy. Also on Thursday, our fourth graders will be taking the NYS Science performance test. The written portion of the NYS science test will follow for them on Monday, June 3.

Enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend!

Sincerely,
Laura Heffernan
