The Science Fair is coming

This year, the Hamagrael Science Fair will be held on Monday, March 19, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. It’s fun and all students in grades 1-5 are encouraged to participate! Now is the time to start thinking about ideas for a science fair project. Do you have a sea shell collection to share, or do you want to test which paper towel is strongest? Do you wonder why singing something helps you remember it, or how bubblegum works? What’s your idea? Look around – ideas are everywhere (not just in books)! Detailed information packet will be sent home soon. If you have any questions about participation or want to help as a volunteer (we need volunteers!), please contact Jill Adams (Chaplin) at 475-7633 or juadams@verizon.net or Deidre Pryor at 475-9343 or dpryor@nycap.rr.com.

Fall Book Fair Is A Huge Success!

A big thank you to all the parents, teachers and staff that helped with and shopped at the Fall Book Fair.  Because of the fantastic sales volume, we earned a cash profit of over $2,200 which will go to support the many PTA-funded activities.  And we earned over $600 in credits which will be used to buy books and educational materials from Scholastic.  Also, through the One for Books program, we were able to purchase $100 worth of books for The Bright Red Bookshelf charity.  Thanks again, from Carie Hennessey, Veronica Roddy and Ellen Sauer, Fall Book Fair Co-Chairs.

Jump Start Volunteers Needed

Do you have an hour a week to volunteer in our schools? Do you enjoy reading and helping our younger students discover the benefits of a good book? If you've answered "yes" to either of these questions, please consider becoming a Jump Start Volunteer.

Become part of this program designed to help our children become lifelong readers. To volunteer, contact Diane Schrempf, Jump Start coordinator, at 475-9255 or dlschrempf@nycap.rr.com.
