State testing reports to be mailed to parents in late September
September 2, 2010
Parents can expect to receive their child's individual results on last year's state tests in late September, about a month after the originally scheduled release date.
The state now expects the reports to be mailed on September 24.
The reports show parents how their children performed on state assessments for the 2009-10 school year.
This year's individual scores come after a high-profile change in the scoring system for how students are deemed proficient.
Essentially students needed a higher grade, or "scale score," on the test this year to be considered proficient. The result of this adjustment is that fewer students across the state, and at BC, achieved proficiency than in previous years. For more information about the change and BC's aggregate scores by grade level, read this article the district posted when the scores were announced.
The district has always been committed to ensuring that all students who need additional academic support will receive it. When parents receive the scores in late September, they should contact their child's school with concerns or questions.
