Jennifer Gonyea named science and technology supervisor
The district’s new subject supervisor for science and technology will be a familiar face to many in the Bethlehem Central community. Jennifer Gonyea was a science teacher at BCMS from 2001 to 2008, when she was Ms. Jennifer Hahn.
At its August 10 meeting, the Board of Education appointed Gonyea to the position to replace Michael Klugman, who recently became the new principal of BCMS. A committee that included BC administrators and teachers oversaw the search process for the supervisor position.
“Bethlehem is an excellent district and I am very excited to be coming back,” Gonyea said. “I am looking forward to working with teachers and educational leaders to improve curriculum and instruction for all students.”
Gonyea noted that this is an exciting time to be in science and technology education, with so many new and emerging fields of study and career paths concentrated in those areas.
She has spent the past three years as an assistant principal at Howard L. Goff Middle School in East Greenbush.
“Jennifer’s administrative experience and background in science make her an excellent fit for our district,” said Assistant Superintendent for Educational Programs Jody Monroe. “Science and technology education continues to evolve, and we are excited to see it grow and strengthen here under her leadership.”
Gonyea will formally begin her new position with the district on September 1.
