Bethlehem tops Business Review’s Schools Report for second year in a row
Bethlehem Central's academic performance has again been ranked first out the region's 85 school districts in the latest "Schools Report" from The Business Review.
According to the business Review, most of the data used in the rankings comes from the state Education Department and its Report Card data for the 2010-11 school year. Additional sources are noted throughout the report. You can view the methodology used in the report here.
"This is a great honor and certainly wonderful news to receive as we prepare for commencement this evening," Superintendent Thomas Douglas said. "This isn’t the result of the efforts of a single or a handful of individuals, this is the result of an entire community of students, parents, teachers and staff coming together to support what is a Bethlehem education. "
BC has been ranked No. 1 among area schools by The Business Review three times in the past five years.
BC ranked 61st out of 91 schools in per-pupil spending, meaning it is spending less per pupil than the majority of other districts in the region. The district also ranked 13th in superintendent pay and 22nd in median teacher salary.
