Slingerlands Summer Reading Project
Our goal for the summer is for all students in all grades to practice the skills of reading by selecting two books to read over the break. Our students will share these titles with their classmates and teachers in September. Either these books can be read as a family or independently, whatever you choose. Slingerlands students sing ‘The ABCs of Kindergarten’

BOOKWORM 2014 is here and ready for distribution!
BOOKWORM 2014 is here and ready for distribution! More than 100 of our student writers and illustrators contributed to our school literary magazine. The Bookworm is one of the many special projects here at Slingerlands Elementary and is an example of our students demonstrating our school motto, “always our best.”

Fifth Grade Survivor Day 2014
On Friday, May 30, more than 300 Bethlehem fifth graders from the district's five elementary schools took part in the annual Survivor Day games at Elm Avenue Park. Designed to be an "ice breaker" for the soon-to-be middle schoolers, the contest of both athleticism and academics tested students on everything from geometry and geography to a challenging obstacle course. Sandra G. Morley Student Leadership Award
Congratulations to our Physical Education Student Leadership Awards winners: Grace Pastino, Jane Reagan, Sohalia Tiu, Stephen Shaw, Ben Goldberg, and Cameron Doyle.
These students were chosen for the award based on the following criteria: demonstrates responsible personal and social behavior, sportsmanship and citizenship; desires to learn and improve; exhibits a physically active lifestyle; demonstrates leadership and is a positive influence on peers; and has contributed toward the total school program.
