A note from Mrs. Bonacquist

Dear Families,

It is wonderful to finally have some sunshine and warm temperatures. The children have been eager to get outside to play! We have had a few busy weeks here at Slingerlands! A few highlights:

• Great Budget News! Thank you very much for continuing your support of our schools! With the current situation there are already many program and personnel cuts, a defeated budget would have been devastating. THANK YOU!!! The winning snack for the KidsVote was the cinnamon cookie – thank you for supporting this event.

• Art Show – The art show was wonderful!! Mrs. Sieme does a tremendous job with the children! We have many very talented aspiring artists!

• Spring Book Fair – This was our first time we had a book fair for a second time in a year but what a wonderful success it was! Many books were purchased in honor of staff members and donated to the library – THANK YOU!! Mrs. Fishburn, Mrs. Pastino and Mrs. Kotary did a wonderful job with the book fair. Their work is greatly appreciated!

• Spring Concert – I hope you all enjoyed the spring concert! We are so fortunate to have such a talented team of music teachers! Thank you to Mrs. Platek, Mr. O’Connell and Mr. Robertson! The children were amazing. Thanks to all of you for supporting our music program. Peter Smith, a representative from the Bethlehem Music Association presented Slingerlands with a selection of books for the library in honor of Ted Biernacki , our former Band director. We are so appreciative of the hospitality shown to us by the High School this year. We will be happy to be back at Slingerlands for our concerts in the future!

• Bookworm - The Bookworm 2012 is here and ready for distribution! We had a record number of participants this year! 140 of our student writers and illustrators contributed to this year's Bookworm and created another wonderful issue of our school literary magazine. A huge thank you to Ingrid Sorensen and Caroline Barrett for their hard work and dedication.
