The following is a message from Food Service Director Allissa Eiser:

The BC Food Service Department would like to thank the BC community for all of its support. We have reached a new sales total of over $1,000,000 this year — more than ever before — and we could not have done it without our customers and our dedicated staff.

We have made many changes to improve our program in recent years so that the meals and snacks we offer students are nutritious, delicious, safe and affordable for your families. These include:

  • Menu changes that support a balanced diet of whole grains, high quality protein, fruit, vegetables, and dairy milk and minimize highly processed foods;
  • Improved cooking equipment, like steamers, that have allowed schools to serve food like frozen and fresh vegetables, so they look and taste more appealing;
  • Expanded cafeteria hours at Bethlehem High School to better serve students without regular lunch periods;
  • More locally sourced foods, including many from our own BCSD school gardens; and
  • Menu development that has been driven by what students like to eat at school for lunch.

We run our program so that any child who is hungry receives a meal, regardless of his or her ability to pay. We work hard with you, our BC families, to ensure all students are ready to learn and engage each day because they are well nourished.

If you currently send your student(s) to eat with us – thank you! If your student has never eaten with us before, please let us know how we could earn your business in the future by completing this brief survey.
