Six BC students are National Merit Finalists

Six Bethlehem Central High School seniors have been named as finalists in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship (NMS) Competition. They are:

  • Jason Hart
  • Emma Kranich
  • Anna Perry
  • Denali Relles
  • Emma Whalen
  • Allen Zhou

The same students had qualified as National Merit Semifinalists last fall, based on their performance on the 2016 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Only 15,000 students nationwide, out of the 1.5 million students who were eligible, received the honor.

Now, as National Merit finalists, these academically talented students have opportunities to compete for 7,400 National Merit awards and scholarships. A panel of judges will review the students’ academic records, recommendations, student essays as well as extracurricular activities and work experience to determine scholarship winners. Those winners will be notified beginning in May.

Good luck and congratulations once again to Jason, Emma, Anna, Denali, Emma, and Allen on their academic achievements and qualification as National Merit Scholar finalists!
