BOU Presents: Healthy Relationships, Consent, & Sexual Misconduct Prevention

  • Tuesday, April 26, 2022 @ 6:30 PM
  • Bethlehem Central Middle School Cafeteria: 332 Kenwood Ave, Delmar

The best way to prevent our children from being victims of, or accused of, sexual violence is to have ongoing discussions about healthy relationships, red flags, and positive informed consent.

BOU invites Carla Young, MS, and Jessica Van Wormer, LCSW, to discuss strategies for initiating these valuable conversations with our kids.

Carla Young, MS, CAS-Carla has worked as a middle school counselor for 17 years. Carla is licensed to facilitate Beautiful Me (The Hance Family Foundation), Not a Number (LOVE 146), and RoX (Ruling our eXperiences). She was awarded the 2019 Beautiful Me Teacher of the Year. She teaches at Russell Sage College in Troy, NY and is a member of the Capital Region Anti-Trafficking Task Force.

Jessica Van Wormer, MSW, LCSW-Jessica is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker currently working with students and families at Bethlehem Central Middle School. Jessica has served clients in academic, medical, and residential settings. She is a licensed facilitator for both RoX (Ruling our eXperiences) and Not a Number (Love146). In addition to these roles, she is an Adjunct Lecturer for the Social Work Department at Siena College. She serves on the board of BOU (Bethlehem Opportunities Unlimited) and is a member of the Capital Region Anti-Trafficking Task Force.

Note: All attendees will go home with a resource guide, tools for talking to youth and a chance to win a copy of one of the recommended books!

All are welcome but the event is intended for parents only. No pre-registration required. Please mask to your comfort.
