BOE adopts proposed 2014-15 budget

At its meeting on Tuesday, April 22, the Bethlehem Central Board of Education unanimously adopted a $92,627,000 proposed budget for the 2014-15 school year. The proposed plan increases spending by $2,212,000, or 2.45 percent. If approved, the budget would include a tax levy increase of 2.99 percent, an amount below the district's calculated tax "cap" of 3.12 percent. READ MORE

Final state aid figures provide clearer budget picture

The Bethlehem Board of Education moved closer to adopting a proposed 2014-15 budget Wednesday when district administrators updated state aid projections following passage of the final state budget earlier this week. The district will receive an additional $580,000 above what had been allocated under the Governor’s Executive Budget proposal, according to Superintendent Dr. Thomas J. Douglas. READ MORE

Dozens of students from elementary through high school were honored for their recent achievements by the Board of Education at its April 2 meeting. They included Odyssey of the Mind champions, National History Day competitors, Albany County's representative at the League of Women Voters' Students in Albany conference, and the high school's seven National Merit Scholar Finalists. Donation to help remind students to Hang Up
and Drive!

Members of the Bethlehem Police Department stopped by BCHS on Tuesday, March 25, to present members of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) with checks totaling $500 to be used to bring a special guest speaker to the school. That speaker, Jacy Good, will deliver to students a compelling personal story of how a young man talking on a cell phone caused an accident that would change Jacy's life forever. READ MORE

Friday, May 23 to be regular school day

Friday, May 23 will be a regular school day for all students at BCSD. The day is listed in the original calendar as a "contingency day" and is used if the district needs to make up for an excess snow day. The 2013-14 calendar allowed for one snow day, and the district has used two. The number of snow days vary from year to year and are determined based on the academic calendar. 

BOE adopts 2014-15 school year calendar

On Wednesday, March 19, the BCSD Board of Education adopted the basic 2014-15 school year calendar. A more detailed calendar will be printed and mailed in August. VIEW 14-15 CALENDAR

Residents asked to call on state leaders to end GEA

The Bethlehem Central School District is asking residents to join the effort to let state leaders and area legislators know that the Bethlehem Central School District and its property taxpayers can no longer absorb huge losses in state aid. READ MORE

Kindergarten registration information

Kindergarten registration information was mailed to all eligible families currently in the Bethlehem Central database. If you did not receive a kindergarten registration packet, please fill out a Preschool Student Information Form for your child and registration materials will be mailed to you. If you had not previously done this, your child would not be in the BCSD database. Contact District Registrar Melissa Haas at (518) 439-2442 if you have any questions.
