School Resource Officer
What is a School Resource Officer?
The school resource officer (SRO) is a member of the Bethlehem Town Police force assigned to be in the Middle School. The SRO interacts with students, collaborates with teachers and administrators, serves as a resource for parents and connects the school to the larger community. This partnership between the school district and the Bethlehem Police Department aims to promote more positive interaction with police officers and to help maintain a safe school environment conducive to learning.
Throughout the school year, the SRO gives presentations in many classrooms on different topics, including health classes regarding substance use/abuse and consequences; social studies classes regarding students' rights and the Bill of Rights; technology classes regarding Internet safety; and English classes regarding criminal investigations.
