Bethlehem A to Z heading

Stage Creations, the BCMS theater group under the direction of Mrs. Diane Henderson-Suker, will present Stranded, a comedy about an island adventure with a twist, on May 2 & 3 at 7 p.m. in the BCMS Auditorium.


BCMS Headlines

Parent meeting for student athletes April 29 at 6:30 p.m.

There will be an important meeting for parents of incoming 7th and 8th grade students (current 6th and 7th graders) interested in playing sports during the 2014-15 school year. The meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the BCMS auditorium and will focus on the Selection/Classification program. Selective classification is a process created by the State Education Department for screening students to determine their readiness to compete in interscholastic athletic competition by evaluating their physical maturity, fitness and skill.

BC Odyssey Teams take on state competition

On Saturday, April 12, three teams from Bethlehem, including one from BCMS, joined over 200 teams competing in the 2014 NY State Odyssey of the Mind competition at Binghamton University. READ MORE & VIEW PHOTOS

Summer Enrichment Program 2014

The Summer Enrichment Program offers students entering grades 3-8 in our district an opportunity to engage in hands on learning while still enjoying the perks of summer. A taste of the classes we offer are cooking, movie making, letterboxing, and classes in various sports, among others.

Litterless Lunch Week is April 21-25

Get ready and challenge yourself to pack a 100 percent "litterless lunch" during the week of April 21-25. Every student who brings a lunch packed in reusable containers and produces no waste at all  will receive a ticket and be entered into a drawing for special prizes. Red Cross Blood Drive at BCMS on April 23

The seventh and eighth grade Student Council will be sponsoring a Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday, April 23 in the BCMS upper gym. The drive will run from 11 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. If you would like to donate, please contact Suzanne Neri at for an appointment.

BCMS students honored for strength of character

On Wednesday, March 19, nearly 100 BCMS students were treated to a lunchtime pizza party, games and music to celebrate 47 students who have demonstrated strength of character through their behavior at school. READ MORE

One section, holding 26 students, of an accelerated STEM course offering called Introduction to Engineering and Design (IED) will be made available to accelerated 8th grade students in the 2014-2015 school year. READ MORE

Studio in Art will be offered in the 2014-2015 school year to qualified eighth grade students for high school credit. The Studio in Art class offers students the opportunity to participate in forty weeks of art for one period per day. READ MORE

Recap of Common Core In The Classroom

To help parents better understand what our curriculum looks like to students in the classroom under the state’s new Common Core Learning Standards, on Feb. 10, teachers at the elementary, middle and high school level described new aspects of the curriculum, such as writing and close reading in ELA to algorithms and fractions in Math. UPDATED test information for parents of Grade 7 and 8 students in Regents-level math

As a result of a federal waiver recently obtained by the New York State Education Department (NYSED), students in grades 7 and 8 who are currently enrolled in either Integrated Algebra or Geometry will not have to take the NYS Math assessments which will be administered at BCMS April 30 through May 2, 2014. Parents should review information in the attached letter.
