BCMS Parent-Teacher Organization
August 31, 2012
Dear Families,
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome each of you and your families to the Bethlehem Central Middle School. As BC Middle School PTO board members, it is among our responsibilities to speak with you about our organization, enroll you as a member and very importantly, encourage you to get involved in your school.
Our primary objective as a Parent Teacher Organization is to support the education of the children of BCMS by fostering relationships among the students, school staff, and parents. To meet this important objective, and to financially supplement/ support services and programs that are no longer covered by our school budgets, our group must fundraise. Your membership dues are one important source of financial support – we invite you to complete your membership information and join us! The PTO will have one major fundraiser on our agenda this year – Entertainment Books. It will begin in September and run for about two weeks. Later in the Fall, the PTO will also be organizing our third annual service fundraiser to help support local children’s charities for the holiday season.
Next, the PTO needs your participation – get involved TODAY! Please look at the PTO volunteer portion on the membership form, indicate what events/activities interest you, and we will be in touch. We understand it is increasingly more difficult to find time to give, but please, whatever your time schedule allows, we have a need for you. We are also looking for parents who would be interested in shadowing our current board members as we will have positions available next year.
Our parent group is about creating a better school and a better educational experience for our children. We strive to create an atmosphere where teachers, administrators and support staff can do their best work – and so can our children. Please review the PTO membership, directory, and student planner form (available online and as part of this letter), and return the form as soon as possible. To make things as uncomplicated as possible – you can write one check for your PTO dues, the MS Directory, and the required Assignment Planner.
One last bit of information. The BCMS PTO is an independent organization and we do not belong to any state or national affiliation, or support any political platforms. Because we are a PTO we are able to keep all of the funds that we raise for our school, rather than sending money for state and/or national dues or fees.
We would once again like to extend a warm
welcome and best wishes for a successful school year. Please contact
us with questions or comments.
Regards,
The BCMS PTO executive board
