BCHS student artwork on display in April, May

Bethlehem High School artists were honored at the April 25 Board of Education meeting for having their works on display throughout the Capital Region and beyond during the months of April and May. Congratulations to our many talented artists! See some of their artistry below:


Bethlehem Central High School – 2018 Capital Region Media Arts Festival

12 BCHS students artwork was selected to be part of the 2018 Capital Region Media Arts Festival located at the high school. The festival was sponsored by the Capital Area Art Supervisors, the New York State Art Association Region 6 and the Bethlehem Central School District.

The festival features 220 works from 19 school districts and a total of 100 minutes of film. 

A reception will be held at the high school on Monday, April 30 and will include an awards reception. In addition, the exhibit also featured a festival on Friday, April 13. The festival included a keynote presentation; a film festival and special effects presentation by sculpture professor, Susan Krause from Savannah College of Art and Design.

Albany Center Gallery – High School Regional Juried Art Exhibition

Six Bethlehem Central students artwork was selected for the High School Regional Juried Art Exhibition that is on display at the Albany Center Gallery from Tuesday, April 24 until Friday, May 18.

The exhibit features the work of 100 high school students from 24 high schools in the Capital Region. It showcases a variety of student work including: painting, drawing, photography, film, digital media, and sculpture.

A student reception is planned for Thursday, May 3 from 5-8 p.m. Awards at 6:30 p.m. The exhibit is being sponsored by Honorable James M. Gaughan & Keith C. Lee, ParkAlbany, M&T Bank, New York State Council on the Arts, and The Albany Wine and Dine for the Arts Festival.

The Perrella Gallery – 27th Annual FMCC Regional High School Art Exhibition

BC artwork was also selected to be a part of the 27th Annual Fulton Montgomery Community College Regional High School Art Exhibition, sponsored by the Fulton Montgomery Community College and The Perrella Gallery. The Perrella Gallery on the FMCC campus held the collection of student artwork from the beginning of April through Thursday, April 19. A reception was held on Thursday, April 19 from 7-8:30 p.m.

The exhibit included 85 student works from 16 school districts within a 50-mile radius of the College. The annual exhibition was started in 1991 as a showcase for the visual arts produced by regional high schools. This exhibition soon became a yearly tradition with the exception of two years during the construction of the Arts and Communications building that now is the home to the Perrella Gallery.
