Large group of students holding certificates

More than 50 Bethlehem Central High School students obtained high scores in the National Spanish Exam given early in the spring. The optional test was taken by students in Spanish 3 and Intermediate Spanish (a course taught through the University in the High School program where students can earn UAlbany credits) who are in their sophomore and junior years.

According to teacher Evelyn Ledezma, students from the United States, and sometimes abroad, take the National Spanish Exam every year.  The test measures language performance and achievement in Spanish as a second (or foreign) language.

“Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, National Director of the Exams. “The exams are the largest of their kind in the United States with over 157,000 students participating in 2017.”
