Dear Families,

Each teacher distributed materials for class and school events. We hope to see all of you next week!!

Monday – Friday – class visits (see individual teacher schedules).  You are welcome to come to lunch and recess on the indicated days. We do ask that you make other arrangements for toddlers and we appreciate you being quiet during classroom visits.  No cell phones, please.  There will be refreshments in the living room area each day.

Thursday, November 16th

            Eat, Shoot, and Read

                        Book Fair 8am – 8pm

                        Refreshments in Cafeteria 4-7pm

                        Turkey Shoot 4-6:30 pm

Friday, November 17th Book Fair 8am – 5pm

Many of you have asked, What is a Turkey Shoot?

The Turkey Shoot is the “Shoot” aspect of our evening event Eat, Shoot, and Read.

The Turkey Shoot is a basketball shooting contest that is also a fundraiser for the physical education program.   Participants pay $1.00 for 10 shots at a basketball hoop.  The hoops are set at an appropriate height for students in each grade level. There is also a hoop for adults.

The student (in each grade level) who scores the most baskets out of ten will win a basketball. There is also a prize for the adult who scores the most baskets out of ten.

You and your family may attend the Turkey Shoot during either time slot if your schedule(s) conflict with the suggested times.  This is a great family event! “Hoop” to see you there.

Homework Survey

In the spring of 2017, a focus group was formed to study the use and impact of homework at the elementary (K-5) level. The group is comprised of teachers, principals, and central administrators. The group reviewed journal articles and research on the subject (Visit to access the materials) and had very meaningful discussions. The next phase of the review process involves surveying parents. As such, we are asking that you complete a homework survey (Visit to take the survey) by Friday, December 1st. Thank you for your continued support.

Dressing for the Cold Weather

It’s finally Fall!  Children go outside every day.  Please make sure your child has a warm jacket, mittens and a hat.

Enjoy the long weekend!
