Letter from Principal Heffernan, Nov. 17

Filed in Glenmont by on November 17, 2017

Dear Families,

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner!  I’d like to take this opportunity to share how thankful I am to be a part of our caring Glenmont community.  We’ve experienced some painful loss over this past month with the passing of our former custodian Ralph Pillot and former 5th grade teacher Chris Porter, and yet our community has pulled together in support of one another. People have reached out in remarkable ways to help. Thank you to all. Glenmont School truly is a wonderful place for all, children and adults alike.

Have you had a chance to complete the district-wide Homework Survey for parents?  We want to know what parents think about current homework practices at our BC elementary schools and possibilities for the future.  Here is a collection of research articles about homework:  https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1uz0ux-OdBKbInQLZ_3GJGVAyYSddjEy6, and here the link to the survey: https://goo.gl/forms/jDov4oCl75ctMyZw2.  The survey will be open until Dec. 1.

America Recycles Day comes to Bethlehem this Saturday!  Check out the opportunities available to all BC residents:  https://www.bethlehemschools.org/america-recycles-day-nov-18-bcms/

Our school district is once again collecting food and gift cards to support community members in need. Here is some information about what each grade level at Glenmont is collecting:  https://www.bethlehemschools.org/glenmonts-2017-caring-sharing-food-drive/.  Thank you to all who have already donated.

There are two more half days for parent teacher conferences:  Nov. 29 and Dec. 8.  Dismissal will be at 11:45 both days.

The Book Fair is coming!

I wish you and your family and friends a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  Enjoy the moments together.

Sincerely,

Laura Heffernan
Principal
