Albany Business Review names BC region’s top school district

Filed in District by on June 16, 2017

Just over a week after being named the top school district in the Albany area by Buffalo-based publication Business First, the Albany Business Review has also named Bethlehem Central the number one school district in the Capital Region.

The district is featured in the local business publication’s annual Schools Report, which ranks 84 school districts in the 11-county Capital Region using data from the New York State Education Department and its School Report Card for the 2015-16 school year. The Albany Business Review also takes into account graduation rates, the percentage of graduates who plan to attend college and the percentage of graduates with advanced Regents diplomas. Scores from the 2016 SATs were also used to determine the rankings.

The Albany Business Review’s Schools Report is available as a printed publication. It is also available online for those with a subscription.

Also this week, Bethlehem officials learned that the district had climbed to number five in a list of top 10 upstate districts for 2017. The list is compiled annually by Business First which reviews data from 431 school districts in New York’s 48 upstate counties.

Other school districts included in the Business First Upstate Top 10 are:

  1. Pittsford (Monroe County, Rochester Area)
  2. Fayetteville-Manlius (Onondaga County, Syracuse Area)
  3. Cazenovia (Madison County, Syracuse Area)
  4. Honeoye Falls-Lima (Monroe County, Rochester Area)

The Business First rankings reflect the collective performance of each district’s public schools from kindergarten through 12th grade.
