All BCSD employees eligible for COVID vaccine

Filed in Archive by on January 11, 2021

All faculty and staff in the Bethlehem Central School District are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine beginning today, Monday, Jan. 11. Every school district employee is considered a frontline essential worker and is included in Tier 1b under New York state’s vaccination distribution plan.

It is important to note that appointments to receive the vaccination are limited by the supply of the vaccine, and this can make securing an appointment difficult or nearly impossible at this time. Providers are also still prioritizing health care workers who have not yet been vaccinated under Tier 1a.

However, you are still encouraged to try to secure an appointment as they become available. As of today, there are two primary ways to get an appointment:

  • Call the NYS DOH Vaccine Hotline at 1-833-697-4829 (the appointment hotline will become available at 4 p.m. today, Jan. 11)
  • Fill out the  NYS COVID-19 Pre-Screener Form (this form will allow you to see available providers and schedule an appointment if appointments become available)

There are an estimated 3.2 million New Yorkers included in Tier 1b so patience will be required as we navigate this latest COVID challenge. Governor Andrew Cuomo has estimated that it could take until April for all eligible Tier 1b New Yorkers to be vaccinated.

If you are able to secure an appointment, remember that you must bring proof of eligibility to the vaccination site when you get your vaccine so please bring your BCSD ID card with you.

If and when you are vaccinated, please share that information with the BCSD Human Resources department. As we continue to work closely with the Albany County Department of Health on investigation and contact tracing of positive cases, this information will be beneficial.

Please be assured that if the district learns of expanded opportunities for school personnel to be vaccinated, we will share that information as soon as it is received.
