America Recycles Day is Nov. 16 at BCMS

Filed in Archive, District, District News by on November 5, 2019

The Bethlehem Central School District’s Green Team has again partnered with the Town of Bethlehem, the Delmar Farmers Market and the BCHS Environmental Club to hold the town’s sixth annual America Recycles Day Collection Event on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bethlehem Central Middle School.

The event will feature clothing and textile recycling, book reuse and recycling and secure document shredding for Town of Bethlehem residents and residents of the Bethlehem Central School District. Proceeds from this recycling event will benefit the district’s environmental programs directly through the Green Team’s initiatives. (Read about the Green Team and their initiatives here.)

Books will be collected for reuse or recycling by Grassroot Givers, an Albany-based non-profit that accepts donations of clothing, books and home essentials and gives them to low-income individuals.

This event will feature a clothing and other textile recycling collection open to all capital region residents, and it will also include a book reuse/recycling collection and secure document shredding. Shredding is limited to Town of Bethlehem residents and BCSD taxpayers with ID; with a maximum of 3 medium-sized boxes per household. Local charity Grassroots Givers will cull the collected books for reusable titles before the remaining books are recycled.
