Back to School: Restart your Chromebook, run updates

Filed in Archive by on September 8, 2020

To ensure your student Chromebook is working at maximum capacity, it is important to restart your Chromebook every day.

Also, to be sure your Chromebook is running on the most up-to-date operating system, look for the Gopher. The gopher will tell you if your child’s Chromebook is out of date.

On a Chromebook, if the little gopher is holding a red caution sign, it means that your Chromebook is out of date and needs to be updated. Notice the gopher is sad.

Click on the icon and you will see the following:
  1. Click “Fix It” and you will be taken to the Chrome OS updater.
  2. Click Update to start the process.

You may need to restart your Chromebook to complete the process.

Once the update is complete the little gopher should be holding a sign with a checkmark, indicating that you are up to date and he is now happy.
