Ballot mailing deadline extended

The deadline for mailing your absentee ballot for this year’s school budget vote has been extended by one week as part of a new executive order issued by Governor Andrew Cuomo.

As a result, completed ballots voters are returning by mail must be received by the district by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16. The deadline for ballots to be hand-delivered to the high school remains unchanged. The ballot drop box at Bethlehem Central High School will only be available until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9. The ballot box must be removed at that time, in accordance with the executive order.

Ballots will be not be opened until the deadline of 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16. At that time, the opening of absentee ballots and tabulation will begin. This ballot tabulation process will be livestreamed for the public on June 16.

Please note that if you have not received a ballot, but would like to vote, you must contact BC Voter Assistance by 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9 so it can be mailed out by 5 p.m. As per the governor’s orders, no new ballots will be available after 5 p.m. on June 9 despite the extended mail deadline. Due to the ballot deadline extension, the special Board of Education meeting, originally scheduled for Wednesday, June 10 at 4:30 p.m. has been rescheduled for Wednesday, June 17 at 4:30 p.m.
