Summer is the perfect time to soak up the sun, but for some BC students it is also the perfect time to give back!

A group of Bethlehem students have spent much of their summer working on a few community service projects benefiting local charities. These students include Andrew Bradt (grade 6), Jacob Bradt (grade 4), Allison Farrell (grade 9), Ryan Farrell (grade 5), Hannah Steil (grade 8), Taylor Steil (grade 5), Julianna Tafilowski (grade 7), Lilly Tafilowski (grade 4) and Lila Warner (grade 4).

One of projects included a bake sale in which the students’ raised over $400 for the South End Children’s Café in Albany.

When asked about the fundraiser, Allison and Ryan Farrell stated that they felt that taking care of others was the right thing to do and it was a pleasure to help out their community.

In addition to the bake sale, these students band together to make homemade dog treats that they sold in their neighborhood, alongside lemonade, where the $300 proceeds went to Upstate Underdog Rescue.

Though that seems like they’ve done quite a bit of work, they are not done yet! The students have two remaining projects in the works that include collecting used books to donate to Grassroots Givers and a bottle drive to benefit the Donna M. Crandall Foundation.

Jake and Andrew Bradt expressed how much they enjoyed working on these community service projects because it helps others and it makes them feel good when they can help.

Way to go Andrew, Jacob, Allison, Ryan, Hannah, Taylor Steil, Julianna, and Lila! Making BC proud!
