BC students sit down with Immigration Specialists

Students and adults stand in front of a projectorOn Wednesday, October 18 a group of Immigration Experts came to speak to the AP Spanish, AP French and Advanced Spanish students about issues affecting immigrants and refugees in the United States.

Included in the panel were Jon Lemelin from the US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, Nick Tishler a lawyer who specializes in deportation cases, James Milstein and attorney with the Regional Immigration Assistance Center, Steve Downs a retired attorney who works for the New York Civil Liberties Union, and Carrie Kuel a representative from Amnesty International. 

The panelists shared their experiences working with immigrants and refugees as well as discussed and clarified current legislation affecting these groups.
