On Friday, May 10, the Bethlehem Central High School Business Department held its first ever Recognition Breakfast where the BC business students were honored for their achievements throughout the 2018-19 school year. The department also thanked area businesses who offered internships, field trips, guest speaking visits, or donations to the program.

Attendees enjoyed breakfast while district administration and teachers recognized Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) officers and conference attendees, announced the FBLA members of the year, named the Outstanding Business Students of the Year, acknowledged the work of graduating seniors, and inducted a student into the Business and Marketing Honor Society of New York State.

Additionally, BCHS sophomore Evan Marshall was presented with the Aspiring Business Education Student Scholarship Award. He received $500 to be placed into a 529 Education plan and a $50 Amazon gift card for personal use. The scholarship recognizes aspiring 9th and 10th grade business students who have demonstrated out outstanding achievement in a secondary business or marketing program.

When it comes to business and marketing, Marshall has no plans to stop learning.

“Business is everything to me and my future,” said Marshall. “I have big ambitions in life regarding business in sports and I want to continue taking courses to help me pursue my dream in any way possible.”

Business Education Teacher Tracy Farrell said that she was excited to be able to bring these different opportunities to the district and to the students.

“I am so happy I can offer these opportunities to my students,” said Farrell. “I want them to leave Bethlehem and be successful whether they go directly into the workforce or continue onto post-secondary education.”
