Filed in BCHS, BCMS by on October 31, 2017

Four BC students were selected as winners of BC’s First Annual Halloween Decoration Design Contest.

Winners include:

  • First place: Ella Traynor, Grade 8

  • Second place: Eric Jestel, Grade 8

  • Third place: Zephan Conway, Grade 11

  • Honorable Mention: Victoria Allen, Grade 8

The students earned recognition by designing and constructing a Halloween decoration that had the ability to be mounted on someone’s front door. The design had to fit inside a box 24″ wide, 30″ tall, and 6″ deep, be made of non-toxic, weather resistant material and fall under one of the two design categories: Happy Autumn or Creepy Scary.

Students then had to submit two photos of the design along with a written description of the materials and construction techniques.

Judges selected the winners based on the criteria below:

  • the overall design/quality/appearance of the submission
  • the appropriateness of the design to the chosen category
  • the creativity of the design
  • the practicality of the design for a front door location
  • the use of color
  • the use of construction materials
  • the durability/strength of the construction
  • the weatherproofing and smudge resistance of the construction

Wildbird Junction Backyard Nature Shoppe has partnered with BC to display all the winners designs and offer them for sale to the public. All of the designs are currently on display and can be purchased for $25! All proceeds go to The Bethlehem Art Association Scholarship Fund.

Congratulations to Ella, Eric, Zephan and Victoria!
