BCSD Transportation Orientation Video

Filed in Archive by on August 13, 2020

Members of the Transportation’s B.E.A.T. Team have created a video highlighting all of the important safety rules for BC students who ride the bus. Geared toward elementary students, the video goes over all of the rules when waiting for, riding and getting off the bus. For 2020-21, there are important COVID-19 safety reminders, too. This video is great for kindergartners and first-time riders, or younger students who may need a refresher course on the safety rules of riding the school bus.

COVID-19 Bus Safety Rules for 2020-21

  • All students and staff must wear face coverings at all times when riding the bus. Exceptions will only be made with official notification from a student’s medical provider.
  • All students will have assigned seats.
  • Students will be seated one to a seat, except for family members.
  • Bus capacity will be capped at 50%, to the extent practicable.
  • Students from the same household will be required to sit together on the bus.
  • In most cases, the buses will load from back to front (the first student on the bus will sit all the way to the rear). Buses will unload from front to back. This will keep students from having to use be in the center aisle.
  • Students should remember to practice good hand hygiene (wash hands thoroughly before leaving home) and practice good respiratory hygiene (cover coughs with a tissue or your elbow).
  • Buses will be disinfected every day and high-touch points will be cleaned after the morning and afternoon runs.
  • To maintain bus cohorts, students will not be allowed to ride home with friends.

These are just some of the health and safety protocols that will be in place for the 2020-21 school year. All other bus safety rules, regulations and reminders can be found here.
