Talking with Your Teen: Learn to be Cyber Savvy and Ensure Your Teen’s Safety Online – Tuesday, November 15, 2016

Bethlehem Opportunities Unlimited (BOU) is pleased to invite you to join them for “Talking with Your Teen: Learn to be Cyber Savvy and Ensure Your Teen’s Safety Online.”

WHEN: Tuesday, November 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (Please note: This is different from time listed on printed calendar)

WHERE: Bethlehem Central High School cafeteria

WHO IS IT FOR? Students in grades 7-12 and their parents/guardians

WHAT WILL I LEARN?  Featured guest speaker Thomas Grimes, of NY’s Finest Speakers, LLC, will speak about increasing internet awareness and promoting an open dialogue between parents and teens about the impact the internet can have on their lives. He will address how innocent behaviors such as status updates, tagging of photos, and use of certain apps can put our loved ones at risk.

There will also be parent and teen breakout sessions. Parents will gain an understanding of what our teens are doing every day online and we will hear from one of our district’s tech integration coaches about how our district is using technology in our schools. Teens will participate in their own session, with a teen panel and BOU board members who work in the field of school counseling, and discuss how to clean up their social media profiles.

MORE: Free refreshments will be served starting at 5:30 p.m. and the educational program will begin at 6 p.m. Raffle prizes will be drawn at the end of the event. We hope to see you there!
