Eagle Healthy Kids Week starts Mon., May 7

To help our students understand and experience the benefits of nurturing their bodies and minds in fun and challenging ways, we have planned the following activities during Healthy Kids Week:

All week long – May 7 to May 11


  • Healthy Choice Tickets – Make healthy choices and be entered to win a prize. The class with the most tickets wins an extra recess. For more details click here.
  • Get a good night’s sleep – Sleep is also an important part of health. Getting 9-11 hours each night fuels the brain and body.
  • Activities at Bethlehem Public Library – Children’s Place will have fun activities related to healthy eating everyday throughout the week
  • Bethlehem Food Pantry drive – ** Please send in an item for the Bethlehem Food Pantry. See the below list of items:
    • Paper towels
    • Kleenex
    • Laundry detergent
    • Sponges
    • Dish soap
    • Shampoo and conditioner
    • Toothpaste
    • Tea
    • Toilet paper
    • Canned fruit (no fruit cocktail)
    • Baked beans
    • Hash
    • 100% fruit juice
    • Pasta
    • Instant Mashed Potatoes
    • Canned Chicken

Move-it Monday – May 7


  • Healthy Steps – Walk, run or jog in our field along a course laid out by our PE teachers: Mrs. Charvat, Mrs. D’Amour and Mr. Burger. They will tally each class’ total steps, and will be donating money to a local charity for each mile walked! All week in PE class.

Tasting Tuesday – May 8


  • Healthy Snacks – Send your child in with a new, healthy snack for class snack time (ex: cucumber slices, snap peas, carrots, apples, egg salad on whole wheat cracker, etc.)
  • Recess Fun – YMCA staff will be at Eagle on Tuesday, May 8 for each grade’s recess period for fun activities to get us moving.

Walking (or biking) Wednesday – May 9


  • Try walking or biking where you need to go today – Try your own two legs (or wheels) to get to and from school! Of course, safety is paramount so walk in a group with parents and friends. Wear a helmet when on a bike, skateboard, etc. If walking to school is not possible, take a walk after school to the store, the library or just around your neighborhood.

Thankful Thursday – May 10


  • Random Acts of Kindness – Work extra hard to perform random acts of kindness today!
  • Mini-Mediation Sessions – Some classes will participate in short meditation classes to learn how to breathe, focus and relax away school stress.

Fresh Air Friday – May 11


  • Enjoy the Outdoors – Get outside and enjoy some fresh air, anytime, before school, recess or after school!

This week is also teacher appreciation week! Please remember to appreciate all the hard work our teachers do every day!
