Elsmere food drive supports BC Backpack Program

Filed in Elsmere by on April 13, 2018

During the month of April, Elsmere School will be collecting food items to supplement the BC Backpack Program.

In 2017, the Bethlehem Central High School Student Senate introduced a weekend Backpack Program to help address food insecurity for students in grades K-5.  The program serves more than 60 families in the Bethlehem Central School District each week.  In order for the program to thrive, the student-run effort needs your help.

Throughout the month, donations of the following food types can be sent into school with your student:

  • Granola and/or breakfast bars
  • Instant oatmeal packets or microwavable cups
  • Water bottles
  • Mac & Cheese (single-serve microwavable packets)
  • Peanut butter or jelly (plastic containers)
  • Fruit or pudding cups
  • Cookies/crackers (single-serve, including peanut butter sandwich crackers)
  • Cereal boxes (single serve boxes)
  • 100% juice boxes
  • Canned tuna or chicken
  • Ramen noodles
