Elsmere Walk to School Day is Oct. 4
Elsmere Elementary School will participate in Walk to School Day on Wednesday, October 4.
Elsmere students and families, supported by the Bethlehem Bicycle & Pedestrian Committee, will join schools from around the world to celebrate International Walk to School Day, which emphasizes the importance of increasing physical activity, pedestrian and bicycle safety, and a healthy environment.
Parents are encouraged to join their children on a walk or bike to school. If possible wear bright and/or reflective clothing (or Bethlehem orange spirit wear!).
When walking, remember to:
- walk on sidewalks if available,
- use crosswalks whenever possible, and
- walk on the LEFT hand side of the road facing traffic if no sidewalks are available.
Arrive a few minutes early:
- Greeters will distribute stickers/goodies for kids who walk or ride to Elsmere on that day.
Students attending School’s In You are welcome to participate. When you arrive just let a School’s In staff member know that your child(ren) walked to school. At around 9:00 a.m., a School’s In staff member will take those students outside to join in the celebration.
