For the second year in a row, Hamagrael music teacher Courtney Richmond and her third grade students shared the stage with visiting students from Albany in a Friends Through Music year-end concert.

The third graders are part of a music-based pen pal program that helps students sharpen writing skills, foster their interest in music and make new friends. For several months, the Hamagrael third graders traded letters with the students at Sheridan Preparatory Academy, writing about what they were learning in music class and about their interests outside of school.

Ms. Richmond launched the program in 2017-18 with help from a former colleague in the Albany City School District.

The highlight of this year’s Friends Through Music program was a joint concert at Hamagrael on Monday, June 10 where the students sang and entertained parents and teachers alike.

Bravo to all!
