Green Team to host Electric Car Show on Sept. 17

electricThe Bethlehem Central School District’s Green Team will co-sponsor an Electric Car Show on Saturday, September 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bethlehem Central Middle School located at 332 Kenwood Ave. in Delmar. The car show will be held in conjunction with the Delmar Farmers Market, which is also a co-sponsor of the event. The Farmers Market operates at the school on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The car show will feature 40 electric vehicles, including 16 different car models. Attendees will have the opportunity to view and test drive the cars as part of the event.

Scheduled to attend the Electric Car Show are Sierra Club President Aaron Mair, U.S. Rep. Paul Tonko, NYS Assemblywoman Patricia Fahy, and several local elected officials. Members of the Green Team will be providing the visiting dignitaries a tour of the district’s environmental programs and the middle school gardens at 9 a.m.

Student-led garden tours for community members will be held later in the season.

The BC Green Team is an organization of administrators, teachers, parents and students who are dedicated to promoting environmental education, responsibility and leadership within the schools of Bethlehem Central, and also to the greater community. The Green Team is charged with raising awareness about the environmental issues facing students and the community and also highlights and models environmental solutions. The Green Team sponsors districtwide recycling and composting efforts, energy efficiency projects, and operates gardens, providing farm-to-table produce at the middle school and high school.
