Hamagrael students, staff and families are known for making the holidays brighter for families in need throughout the Capital Region. And this year is no different! On Friday, December 15, a group of fifth grade students and staff volunteers along with Principal Dave K, stuffed a van full of hundreds of gifts for needy children as part of the annual ADOPT-A-SNOWFLAKE project at Hamagrael. More than 200 individual gifts and packages were donated this year by Hamagrael families.

The Adopt-A-Snowflake campaign kicked off just after Thanksgiving as families signed on to donate gifts that will go to area children with the help of Unity House.  Students were able to “adopt” a snowflake which included information that would help families pick an appropriate gift for a child. Gifts and wrapping, coats, hats, mittens and scarves were collected at the school and delivered to Unity House. Northeast Acura provided the van and a driver to deliver the gifts.

Unity House provides comprehensive programs dedicated to improving the quality of life for vulnerable people in the Capital Region, helping families secure basic resources like food, clothing, employment training and emergency shelter and housing supports. Learn more about Unity House here.

Special thanks to our PTA volunteers, and coordinator Erin Svare, for their work on this special holiday project.
