On Tuesday, April 30, the Hannaford Supermarket in Delmar presented a $1,000 check to Hamagrael Elementary School that will be used to update the school’s playground equipment. The school was awarded the money for raising the most money as part of the local Hannaford Helps Schools program.

Through the program, Hannaford customers can direct donations to a school of their choice by purchasing eligible products. Schools earn three “school dollars” – equivalent to cash – for every four participating products purchased. This year, Hannaford shoppers raised $400 for Hamagrael. Schools in each community that raise the most money receive an additional $1,000. The elementary school has been enrolled in the Hannaford Helps Schools program for the past six years through the PTA.

The check was presented to Principal Ksanznak by Store Manager Brent Caron and Assistant Manager Kim Mason. A few students got to join in on the fun, including Hamagrael Kindergartener Mabon Hallisey, who is a Delmar Hannaford regular and sees Principal K. there every weekend!

To date, Hannaford Supermarkets has distributed checks for more than $526,590 “school dollars” to over 1,500 K-12 schools in New England and New York in 2018.

Thank you to Hannaford Supermarkets and to everyone who helped support the school by shopping at the Delmar Hannaford!
