For the past two years, Hamagrael Elementary School has been named the winner of the Bike to School Challenge held by the Capital District Transportation Committee (CDTC).

In an effort to hold on to the Wheel of Knowledge trophy for the third year in a row, Hamagrael students attended an assembly that encouraged students to participate in the Wednesday, May 9, 2018 Bike to School day as well as how to practice bike safety.

Principal K demonstrated some of the most important safety rules, with the help of Detective Mike Whiteley, the district’s School Resource Officer at BCMS. Check out the video here.

During the presentation students learned about helmet safety, proper wardrobe when riding, the ABCs of biking (checking the Air, Breaks, and Chains on a bike), following the road rules and how to use hand signals.

Additionally, Whitely spoke to students about the Bethlehem Walk & Roll Fest to be held Saturday, May 19 where the community will be able to participate in pedestrian safety awareness activities; bike skills stations; kids activities; bike auction; bike giveaways and more! Be sure to bring your bike and helmet.
