i-Ready winter assessments now available in Aspen

Filed in Archive, District by on February 9, 2018

The following is an important message for parents K-8 from Assistant Superintendent for Educational Programs David Hurst.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Parent reports for the winter i-Ready Diagnostic Assessment in reading and mathematics are now available in Aspen. These assessments were administered in January to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.

The parent report for each diagnostic assessment can be found in a student’s document folder in Aspen.  All diagnostic results are listed separately: i-Ready ELA and i-Ready Math.  Click for complete instructions for accessing the reports in Aspen.

While many students showed growth on this most recent benchmark assessment, some did not. As with any standardized test, there is variation from the first to second administrations. As students take the test several times, this statistical variation smooths out and a trend line becomes clearer. Please keep in mind that no single assessment provides a complete picture of your child’s abilities. However, when combined with grades, classroom activities, and unit quizzes and tests, benchmark assessments can provide important information about a student’s progress.

The i-Ready Diagnostic assessments help create an individualized instruction path for your child.  Instruction can be provided in the classroom by the teacher as well as via the i-Ready Instruction online platform which can be accessed both at school and at home. Click for complete details on i-Ready Instruction, including home access.

Should you have any questions about the i-Ready Diagnostic or i-Ready Instruction, please feel free to contact me.

If you have specific questions related to your child’s progress, I encourage you to speak to his/her teacher.

Thank you for your continued support.
