Important BUS changes beginning Mon., Feb. 22

Filed in Archive by on February 12, 2021

There are some important bus changes ahead for many Slingerlands students beginning Monday, Feb. 22. Due to a continuing bus driver shortage, the Transportation Department will be eliminating one bus route, Route 40. The students on that bus route will be added to five other Slingerlands bus routes.

This may mean slight changes to your child’s bus schedule in both the morning and afternoon on the affected routes. There will be no changes to pick-up or drop-off locations. The schedule changes will begin on Monday, February 22.

These route adjustments will impact the following Slingerlands bus routes.

Route eliminated as of 2/22:

  • Route 40

Routes adding riders as of 2/22:

  • Route 10
  • Route 21
  • Route 32
  • Route 34
  • Route 36

It is important that you visit Aspen as soon as possible to view any changes for your child.

To find your child’s UPDATED bus information, look on the left side of the student file in Aspen, and then:

  1. Click on the Membership tab;
  2. Click on the Transportation tab; and
  3. Click on the Details tab.

Like many other school districts, a shortage of bus drivers has been one of the greatest operational challenges during the COVID pandemic. This change in your child’s bus schedule is necessary to ensure there are enough bus drivers to safely accommodate all students districtwide. Your cooperation and understanding are greatly appreciated.

Our transportation staff has taken special care to identify routes that could expand ridership and continue to maintain as much social distancing as possible. The district keeps track of ridership on a daily basis and monitors any fluctuations that could impact the rider experience. The department will continue to do so as it seeks to recruit bus drivers and bus attendants. You can assist in our recruiting efforts, too. If you know anyone looking to work in transportation for the school district, please share this information.

If you have questions regarding the change in your child’s bus schedule, please email or call the Transportation Department directly at 518-439-3830.
