Important BUS SCHEDULE change beginning Thursday, Nov. 12

There is an important change to your child’s bus schedule beginning Thursday morning, November 12, 2020.

Your child’s bus route will remain the same but there will be some additional riders added to the route beginning Thursday. This could result in some changes to your child’s pick up and drop off times. These changes are the result of a bus driver shortage.

This route adjustment will impact the following existing bus routes:

  • BCHS routes 7, 8, 13, 29
  • BCMS routes 6, 11, 54, 58
  • Eagle route 14
  • Elsmere route 11
  • Glenmont route 58
  • Slingerlands 40, 34, 36

It is important that you visit Aspen as soon as possible to view any changes for your child. This message is only being sent to families who are impacted by the consolidation of bus routes taking place on November 12. Reminders will be sent via text message and phone on Monday and Tuesday.

To find your child’s UPDATED bus information, look on the left side of the student file in Aspen, and then:

  1. Click on the Membership tab;
  2. Click on the Transportation tab; and
  3. Click on the Details tab.

Like many other school districts, a shortage of bus drivers has been one of the greatest operational challenges during the COVID pandemic. This change in your child’s bus schedule is necessary to ensure that we have enough bus drivers to safely accommodate all students districtwide. Your cooperation and understanding are greatly appreciated.

Our transportation staff has taken special care to identify routes that could expand ridership and continue to maintain as much social distancing as possible. The district keeps track of ridership on a daily basis and monitors any fluctuations that could impact the rider experience. The department will continue to do so as it seeks to recruit bus drivers. You can assist in our recruiting efforts, too. If you know anyone looking to work in transportation for the school district, please share this information:

If you have questions regarding the change in your child’s bus schedule, please email or call the Transportation Department directly at 518-439-3830.
