Interested in Being a Room Parent?

Filed in Archive by on September 13, 2016

At Glenmont School, we rely on our parents in so many ways and are grateful for your help!  One important parent volunteer position that provides a direct line of assistance to the teacher is that of the classroom room parent.  We will once again be following a room parent selection process that was created a few years ago in an effort to be fairer and more inclusive.  Here is an overview:

At September’s Open House, the teachers will share the responsibilities of the room parent.  Any parents who are interested in serving in this role for their child’s classroom will sign up with their child’s classroom teacher at Open House.  For parents who are unable to attend the Open House, please contact your child’s teacher to express your interest.  Teachers will then select one or two names from those submitted, depending upon the teacher’s needs.  However, a parent may only serve as room parent for one classroom during each school year even if they have multiple children in the school, and teachers must first select anyone who has not yet been a room parent before choosing someone who already served in the past.  The school’s main office maintains a record of past room parents from the 2009-10 school year to the present to aid the teachers.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the principal at  And again, thank you for your willingness to volunteer at Glenmont School!
