Intramural activities offered to 4th and 5th graders

Filed in Archive by on October 5, 2016

We all know the health benefits of regular exercise, but did you know that kids who are physically fit sleep better? They’re also better able to handle physical and emotional challenges.

Most adults think about exercise as working out in the gym, running on a treadmill, lifting weights, etc…but for kids, exercise means playing and being physically active. Intramurals gives students another opportunity for regular exercise during the school day.

Intramurals for 4th and 5th graders at Glenmont will begin the week of October 17, and will run through June 1, 2017. Intramurals is an outreach of physical education, and consists of games and activities, as opposed to instructional and practice situations. It is voluntary, and once your son/daughter has signed up, he/she may come on the assigned day, throughout the year.

Students are dropped off at the main entrance to the school between 8:25 and 8:35. There will be someone there to open the door for you. Please do not use the school’s In entrance at the cafeteria, unless you are participating in that program and need to check in there first. At the conclusion of intramurals at 9:10, students will be dismissed to their classroom.

We have a large number of students who have indicated they are interested in participating, so we are asking students to please sign up for only ONE day per week. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are the available days, and there is a cap of 30 students per day, for safety reasons. Requests will be granted on a first come, first served basis, so PLEASE return the attached permission slip to Mrs. Nolan no later than OCTOBER 11, 2016. Be sure to indicate both first and second choice of days.
