Letter from Principal Bonacquist, Dec. 4

Filed in Slingerlands by on December 4, 2020

Dear Families,

Today was our annual PTO sponsored Staff Appreciation Lunch!  Although we couldn’t gather together to eat and enjoy time with our colleagues, it was a wonderful treat! This year the PTO ordered from Cardonas – it was FABULOUS!!!!  We also really appreciate the many gift cards that were donated for our raffle.  Every staff member won something!!   Your continued support during these challenging times is GREATLY appreciated!  Thank you to all of you!

Many of you have asked, “How can I help?”  Below are two great ways you can help others in our BC Community.

‘Tis the Season for Giving
The annual BC Caring and Sharing Program began collecting food donations and grocery store gift cards on November 30, 2020. The Bethlehem Central School District organizes and runs this program with one goal in mind: to assist families in the BC community who may be struggling to make ends meet, with food and grocery gift cards ahead of the holiday break and throughout the school year.

  • Cards for Caring  – We are collecting gift cards to give with the baskets of food. The gift cards should be to grocery stores (Hannaford, Price Chopper and Shop Rite) and it is helpful if they are in $25 increments.  Please write the amount directly on the gift card.  We will be collecting until December 12th. Last year we collected 56 cards.  Our goal this year is to collect 60 gift cards.
  • BC Food Drive – we will be collecting food items for the Annual BC Caring and Sharing program.  The food drive will run from November 30-December 17.

Wednesday, December 9, is the last of three scheduled half-day teacher conference days for elementary schools. Please complete this form by Monday, December 7, so we know what your child will be doing at dismissal. Dismissal is scheduled for 11:45AM. Car pick-up will begin at 11:15 this day. No lunch will be served. Please complete a separate form for each child.

Have a great weekend!

Ongoing Reminders:

Cars can enter the parking lot at 9:00.  We will begin letting cars through as soon as the buses are done, which is about 9:15.  If you are running a little late and do not see any staff member still out in the back, you may have to park and walk your child up to the door and ring the bell.

Dismissal –

Parents will be allowed in the parking lot at 2:55.  When the weather turns bad, we will likely back this time up again to as early as 2:45.

Walkers / Bike Riders –

Bikers and walkers will be released at 3:15.

If it rains and your child will NOT be walking/riding, please contact the office and let us know.

COVID Tracker

Please remember to complete this each morning for each of your children. This needs to be completed everyday, EVEN if your child is home sick or is in quarantine.  If you haven’t completed it, we will be giving you a reminder email.
