Letter from Principal Bonacquist, Dec. 6

Filed in Slingerlands by on December 6, 2019

Dear Families,

‘Tis the Season for Giving
Next week is the last week for our food, coin, and toy drives.

  • BC Food Drive – we will be collecting food items for the Annual BC Caring and Sharing program.  The food drive will run from November 25-December 12.
  • Coins for Caring – The children in Mrs. Kourt and Mrs. Messier’s classes are doing a coin drive to raise money to purchase gift cards for the food baskets that are part of the Caring and Sharing program.  You can donate change or gift cards. The gift cards should be to grocery stores (Hannaford, Price Chopper, and ShopRite) and it is helpful if they are in $25 increments. Please write the amount directly on the gift card.  We will be collecting until December 12th. So far we have collected 31 gift cards!! This is from coins collected and donated gift cards. Our goal is to be able to donate 50 gift cards to the Caring and Sharing Program to go with the food basket. Thank you for your support!!
  • Toys for Tots –  There are collection bins in the lobby, by the cafeteria, and at the entrance to the K-1 wing.  Join us in helping young children in need by donating an unwrapped toy to the Toys for Tots toy drive. We are collecting toys until December 13th.  Our bins are starting to fill up! Thank you for your support with this important initiative!

Staff Appreciation Lunch

We really appreciated the wonderful lunch provided to us by the PTO.  The lunch was catered by Cardona’s Market and we were treated to a wonderful selection of desserts.  Thank you to everyone who brought in baked goods or helped with the event. A special thank you to Amy Cary, who coordinated the whole event!! Thank you to Ola Montgomery and the many other parents that helped!

Winter Clothing

Please make sure your child is prepared with warm clothing to go outside for recess.  We go outside everyday! In addition to a warm coat, hat and gloves, children should have boots.   Even the blacktop area can be slushy! In order to go in the field to play in the snow, children must have boots and snow pants.  It would be helpful to send in dry pants and socks as the kids can get pretty wet during recess. Please put names on all clothing and boots! The lost and found is already overflowing with unlabeled items.

Virtual Backpack: A site which will have copies of forms and flyers that are sent home, and information about upcoming events.  Public With Parents 2019-2020
