Letter from Principal Heffernan, Jan. 10

Filed in Glenmont by on January 10, 2020

Dear Families,

The Glenmont PTA is bringing Enrichment Classes back! While printed copies of the offerings went home via backpack mail on Thursday, sign-ups will be completed online on a first come, first served basis next week.  I will be sending out the link via email to the online form on January 24th at about 3:20pm.  Many thanks to the PTA, especially Chairs Jen Frick and Laurie Tafilowski, for all of the work they have done putting this wonderful program together for our students.

The district is pleased to offer a presentation to all students and families across the Capital District by Mr. Richard Haynes, Associate Director for Diversity at the University of New Hampshire.  His presentation, “Education will give you Freedom and Opportunities” will take place on Monday, Feb. 3 at 7pm at the Middle School.  This will be a wonderful way to start Black History Month.

Students will be taking the mid-year iReady benchmarking tests in both reading and math starting next week.  We use these assessments as one tool of many to determine student progress as well as to catch any students from falling through the cracks.  Your child’s results will be available on Aspen once testing has been completed across the district.

We will be donating all items in our Lost & Found collection to charity next Friday, Jan. 17, so please stop by soon if you are missing anything.

The next PTA Meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 7:00pm.  All are invited!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

Laura Heffernan
