Letter from Principal Heffernan, Nov. 26

Filed in Glenmont by on November 26, 2019

Dear Families,

This is a letter of thanks.  To begin, during this time of parent-teacher conferences, we are thankful to all of the parents who have taken the time to come in and speak with your child’s teacher.  We hope that you have been having helpful discussions about your child’s successes to date and how we can work together for future growth. If you have any further questions after the meeting (isn’t that always the case?), please reach out to the teacher or to myself so we can help.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Wizards game!  We are especially grateful to our Glenmont teachers who laced up their sneakers for the big match:  Joel DiTata, Amy Klugman, Joanna Perrino, Mackenzie Riegel, and Lauren Ward. It was a lot of fun and all for a good cause as we raised quite a bit of money for Bethlehem Opportunities Unlimited (BOU),  an organization which offers grants to our teachers and supports our BC families as well.

Thank you in advance to all who plan to attend our upcoming Chris Porter Night on Dec. 5 which will include a Hoop Shoot, silent auction, and so much more.  To date, we have 25 themed baskets we will be auctioning off that are being donated by our faculty and staff! We are doing this to raise money for an annual scholarship to be given to a graduating BC senior.  Mrs. Porter was a wonderful former Glenmont and Eagle fifth grade teacher who died of a brain tumor a few years, so we want to ensure that her memory lives on. We hope to see you there!

The district is collecting food and gift cards for our Caring & Sharing program. BCSD families who identify themselves  as being in need of assistance this holiday season will benefit directly from your donations. Thank you for anything that you are able to give.  It makes a difference to many families right here in our community.

Finally, a big thank you to our entire Glenmont School community for everything you have done and continue to do in support of our students, staff, and families!  2019 has been a wonderful year for our school with the addition of several fabulous new faculty members, and of course, the National Blue Ribbon award. I feel grateful to be a part of this community every day, especially during this time of Thanksgiving.

I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

Sincerely,

Laura Heffernan
