Letter from Principal Kloss, Apr. 1

Dear Elsmere Families,

It’s hard to believe that we are starting the final trimester of the school year already! It has certainly been a fun and busy year so far, filled with an immense amount of learning. With three months to go, there is still so much to look forward to. Here are some photos and our birthday video.

While we have officially wrapped up Reading Month, everyone is still encouraged to read, read, read. Research demonstrates a correlation between the amount spent reading and academic success. Plus, reading can be such a wonderful escape and a great way to bond over a shared experience. Families are encouraged to make reading, such as nightly bedtime stories, a regular part of your routine.

Book Madness continues and we are down to the final four. It’s the Cat Man of Aleppo vs. Those Shoes
and The Water Princess vs. Don’t Touch My Hair. Stay tuned for more!

A big thanks for all of the wonderful donations of Gently Used Books and to our third grade teachers and students for organizing and running the sale today. Student shoppers have been tremendously enthusiastic looking through and selecting their own treasures. Every student will go home with a book (or two or ten) today. Enjoy!

As our school begins to slowly reopen to outside visitors, we are excited about the opportunities this will present including Earth Day on April 14, where classes of students cycle through 30 minute ecology oriented activities. If you have time and would like to assist with this day, please contact the office to join our volunteer list. If you would like to offer to plan and run a station, even better! Please note all volunteers will need to bring in their license and proof of vaccination.

We look forward to much more learning together in the coming months. As always, thank you for your partnership in making Elsmere “A place to love and grow.”
