Letter from Principal Kloss, Aug. 15

Dear Elsmere Families,

I hope this finds you enjoying a delightful summer with your children. I remember well these busy days with my own kids, now 21, 19 and 17 years old. Regardless of their ages, all of our children will soon be starting a wonderful new adventure. The Elsmere team has been planning so many fun and meaningful opportunities for your little ones in 2022-23. We are all in for a treat!

Teacher assignments will be released to Aspen on August 19. Our Elsmere Google Site here has teacher welcome letters, along with a plethora of other news. I suggest bookmarking this site, which will be updated with our weekly newsletter and other resources.

Important: Please complete this dismissal form  as soon as you can, so we know where to send your lovey at the end of the first day.

Supply Drop off this year is September 1, 3:30 – 4:30.  Teachers may not be in their classrooms this year for a meet-and-greet. If this time does not work for you, please reach out to the classroom teacher or simply send your child with requested school supplies the first week of school.

Open House is Thursday September 16 and will be offered in-person with a virtual option for parents who are unable to attend. If you watch from home, you can email the teacher any questions you have or give the teacher a call the next day as the virtual presentation will not be interactive. Links and a schedule to follow.

Back this year are: Birthday Lunches with the principal, Grade level breakfasts, the Science Fair, Math and Science Night, the Book Fair, Grand Lunch Event, and Lip Sync will be held this year! Please check our quick reference guide for dates and our glossary for other events.

Finally, if you, or someone you know, loves kids and wants to work in our terrific school district, you are encouraged to apply for a position as an aide for students with disabilities. It is a rewarding job with delightful children, wonderful colleagues and terrific hours. More information here and here.

Enjoy these perfect summer days and nights. I hope you see a meteor or two!

Take care,

Kate Kloss

Psst…

Are you looking for something fun (and free!) to do on a Saturday between now and September 24? Try the Saturday Nature Bus, which travels between Memorial Park by Stewart’s and Thatcher Park or Five Rivers.
